2021 March-A-Thon
The Macomb Marching Bomber Band recently raised over $4000 in donations from the Macomb Community by participating in a March-A-Thon sponsored by Ladner and Jain Orthodontics. Members of the band solicited contributions door-to-door in the neighborhoods of Compton Park, Georgetown and Hidden Hills. Georgetown bested the competition winning the March-A-Thon parade through their neighborhood on September 11. After the Georgetown parade, the band gave a free community concert on the Courthouse Square. Proceeds of the March-A-Thon will be used to provide instruments, music and equipment to the Macomb Schools’ 6-12th grade band programs.

Marchathon 2017
Macomb, IL – The Macomb High School Band is doing something this year to include more of the community. On the morning of Saturday, August 26th, the drumline and color guard will perform short marching demonstrations in three (3) different neighborhoods (E. Piper / E. Washington, Meadowbrook, and S. Johnson / S. Randolph) in Macomb, between 9:45 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Parent volunteers will accompany student teams along the parade routes collecting donations as the drumline and color guard perform. These donations will be tabulated and the “winning neighborhood” will receive a personalized parade from the entire band and color guard through their streets at 3:30 p.m. on September 9th. That evening at 5:00 p.m., to say thank you for your support, the entire community is invited to our first field show performance of the year at the Courthouse Square.
All money collected will be used for the replacement of instruments and supplies. Band Director Doug Mattsey is excited for the event. “This is a wonderful start to the school year, band students have been practicing nearly daily since early August. This event is a way for them to play new music, wear their uniforms, and reach out to the community!”
Future performance dates and more information can be found on the Macomb Bands website at www.macombbands.org
