High School Band Update (August 7, 2012)



High school band parents:

Some adjustments have been made to the marching band rehearsal schedule:

  • Sat., Aug. 18
    • morning rehearsal, no afternoon rehearsal
  • Sat., Aug. 25
    • morning rehearsal, no afternoon rehearsal
    • 11:00 am – parent meeting
    • 11:30 am – parents invited to preview marching show (so far)
    • 1:00 pm – uniform distribution (starts with senior class); lots of volunteers needed!

Due to the heat, please be sure your student is using plenty of sunscreen and brings a hat and a water bottle to every rehearsal.

The Conduct-a-thon is the first major band event of the 2012-2013 school year. This high school fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 8, 4:30-7:00 pm. This event will feature honorary and celebrity conductors. The celebrity conductors are people from our community who have been selected because of their leadership and service within our community and their dedication to the Macomb school band program. Parents will be collecting pledges as votes for the slate of celebrity conductors (slate still to be finalized). The conductors with the highest pledge amounts will be awarded the premier platform that day. Goal: Raise $6,000. Funds will be used for instrument repair and replacement and to support the general band fund. More information on this fundraiser will be distributed via email very soon.
